On our way to Yellowstone, we made a stop or two. This was the only "sight - seeing" type of stop: Craters of the Moon. Apparently it's about 40+ miles of lava rock, basalt, and whatever else. It occurred millions of years ago when some plates shifted below the earth, and a hot spot moved across it. That "hot spot" is what we call Yellowstone National Park. So, stopping at CRATERS just fit in nicely with our whole trip. (Plus, Brett had to take an important phone call about a job opportunity!)
The kids had no idea that they would be posing so much over the next couple of days, so they were excited to sit for a picture here!
Jessica was pretending it was "hot lava" that she couldn't touch. I thought that was cute because my kids used to always put the throw pillows on the floor and walk around saying they couldn't touch the floor because it was "hot lava".
Ethan had to explore the rocks.
Jess saw this picture and said "Wow, we don't look a thing alike, do we?" Me: "You don't think so? Really"
Jess: "Duh, Mom. We totally look alike!"
Brett...on his phone. Thankfully, we didn't have service everywhere we went, so I think this is the only picture of him on his phone!

Your trip looks like so much fun! You know, all this time that I've lived in CA, we've never been to Yellowstone?! Crazy! You look great!
